(Peru, IN) – The Miami County Artisan Gallery (MCAG), located at 20 N Broadway, Peru, IN, a non-profit 501 c 3, and charity, announces coordination of the second annual Peru Visual Arts Festival. The Free festival is from 10 am â midnight, Saturday, May 13th, 2023, located in downtown Peru, IN.
Building on the success of the inaugural festival, over 600 people are expected to come and enjoy art and food vendors, four art competitions, and great entertainment. Festivalgoers may take advantage of free bus transportation to explore Peru’s Galleries and Studios.
Four competitions with cash prizes include a morning youth competition of Plein Air Painting, an adult Plein Air all day competition, an art-in-a-business competition, and a festival photo competition.
Great entertainment will fill the air both day and night. The Swampwater Stompers and other local musicians play during the day. Evening headliners include the popular Moon Cats, a 50’s and 60’s cover group, leading to Queen Delphine and the Crown Jewels, a Chicago-style Blues Group from Indianapolis. To top off the night we have 8BITAH electronic music (Black Light Show) during the painting of a black light mural, in which everyone is invited to participate. Queen Delphine and The Crown Jewels engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program supported by Arts Midwest that is supported by the Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Indiana Arts Commission
The festival is designed to encourage festivalgoers to enter Peru’s main galleries and art studios, including MCAG, Peru Community School Fine Art Gallery (PCSG), 7S Glass Grammy, Gallery 15, The Potter’s Bench, and Juli Feller Studios, as well as to facilitate artists selling their work. At MCAG Queen Delphine and the Crown Jewels will participate in a panel discussion focused on, “My Path to Success.” At the PCSG there is a display of Robert Weaver Art and a presentation by his son, Mark Weaver. At Gallery 15 special artists are featured including pottery demos and a sketch artist. 7S Glass Grammy, Juli Feller Studio, and The Potter’s Bench are art patrons’ dreams.
Come one come all to a 2023 festival extravaganza, you will be thrilled!
